About my Fiance and I:

Carl and I are getting married on September 10th 2011, in Green Bay Wisconsin.  We both grew up in Wisconsin and most of our family lives there so we both knew we wanted to get married in Wisconsin.  I grew up in the Stevens Point area,  he lived in the Green Bay area before moving to Avon, Connecticut after fifth grade.  College is what brought us together, we met at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.  We lived on the same floor in the dorms, became friends and started dating a few months later.  Carl graduated from MIAD with a degree in Industrial Design.  I only stayed at MIAD for the first year, I didn’t know what to major in and could justify racking up the loans while I decided so I went to the local Tech school.  I graduated with a degree in Marketing.  After graduating, Carl accepted a digital sculpting position with General Motors in Metro Detroit, Michigan!  We moved to Michigan in March, 2010.  It’s been hard being so far away from our family, it’s an 8 hour drive home, that darn lake!  We’ve been fortunate enough to make it home for the holidays to get our dose of family time.  So far I’ve been working on making jewelry, I have an etsy page that I need to work on a little more.  And I’ve been searching for jobs, every once in awhile.  My goal is to go back to school, for Product Design after the wedding.

The Proposal:

During the 4th of July weekend last year we made a trip out to Wisconsin for My Grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary.  We stayed in a hotel downtown Milwaukee the night before and drove to my Grandparent’s house, in Fond du Lac, in the morning.  We spent almost the entire day there.  Carl was acting a little suspicious, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up so I convinced myself it was nothing.  We drove back to Milwaukee after dinner and decided to go for a walk.  We walked along the river, then past MIAD and our old dorms.  Eventually we ended up at the dock on the river that we use to hang out at in college.  We sat for awhile reminiscing, Carl started talking about how much I mean to him, how happy he is that we met and how happy I make him.   He reached in his pocket, got down on one knee, held out the most beautiful ring and asked me to marry him! Everything was so perfect, the location, the timing, the ring and of course him!  We sat there a little longer to let it soak in then we started calling people.  I guess earlier at the party Carl had asked my Dad’s permission, I can see why he was acting weird, he must have been nervous!
